Truths About Food Allergies

To ensure that children and adults maintain adequate nutrient levels, it is important to include foods rich in vitamins, minerals and other essential nutrients in the diet.

For example, citrus fruits like oranges and lemons are sources of vitamin C, which strengthens the immune system; dark green vegetables, like spinach and broccoli, provide iron and calcium, essential for bone health; and fish rich in omega-3, like salmon and sardines, contribute to cardiovascular and brain health.

It is crucial to be aware of possible food hypersensitivities, as they can be confused with other diseases, which can have serious consequences.

Symptoms such as gastritis, asthma, obesity, cystitis, headache, hyperactivity, acne, fibromyalgia, dark circles, and itchy eyes, among others, may be associated with delayed food reactions, which are often not immediately noticed.

Therefore, it is essential to report any symptoms to your nutritionist and doctor so that an appropriate assessment can be carried out.

Chronic use of medications to treat inflammation, infections and pain can lead to nutritional imbalances, which are often silent and only manifest themselves later, and can develop into a food allergy.

Finally, it is important to mention that, contrary to popular belief, milk is not an inflammatory food for most people. Scientific studies show that dairy consumption can be part of a balanced diet, as long as there is no intolerance or allergy to milk.

Another food that is commonly considered an allergen, but is actually not for most people, is gluten. While people with celiac disease or gluten sensitivity need to avoid it, the majority of the population can eat it without any problems. Gluten is a protein found in grains such as wheat, barley, and rye, and can be part of a healthy diet for those without these specific conditions.

For more information and to find out if you are allergic to any food, consult a nutritionist.
